The Shindagha Museum – House of Perfume
Designed/Build: GSM Project
Zone Display Cases scope of work: 19 display cases, most of them using our new frameless technology. The cases are currently in Dubai, with installation planned next month, in January.
The Shindagha Historic District, a 25ha area situated on the northwest bank of the Khor, was originally the historic centre of Dubai in which Dubai’s ruling Sheikhs as well as famous traders used to live.
The revitalization of an entire community of existing heritage buildings of that period, including the Al-Maktoum house, will form a living heritage “museum” within the historic district, to be known as the Shindagha Museum.
Within the Shindagha Museum are several pavilions that will address aspects of Dubai and the Shindagha Historic District’s vibrant past, including the Al Maktoum Royal Family, the architectural heritage of Dubai, and the history and culture of making perfume. All of the pavilions will be family-friendly, with customized interpretation for the diverse audience of Emirati Families, School Groups and a large volume of Tour Groups. The project is ongoing, with the first new pavilion opened in 2016, and additional phased openings from 2017 through 2019.
